Transitioning into a new role can be very stressful, overwhelming, and difficult. However, the fellowship program has been such a blessing. During this difficult transition in my life, the education team were very supportive and their availability was amazing. The preceptors were phenomenal and made the transition smoother. My mentor was outstanding and allowed me to express my inner feelings regarding the challenges I faced. The physicians are down to earth and are willing to take any opportunity to teach you something new. The structure of the program was easy to follow but challenging at the same time. It pushed me to be the provider that I am now. For anyone transitioning into a critical care provider role, I strongly recommend their program. Thank you for this opportunity.

The critical care fellowship was an integral part of the provider I am today. Being able to go through a well laid out bootcamp of all things critical care before hitting the unit as a new provider was crucial. In addition, being able to have protected learning time and being able to ease into a full patient load helped ease the anxiety and nervousness I felt. It is well known that going from a nurse to a provider is a hard transition and you are faced with feeling inadequate when for years you have felt competent in your role. The residency allows space and time to transition as well as support and assistance with the change in mindset it requires. I highly recommend the residency for anyone looking to become a critical care provider.

The residency was the perfect way to ease the transition of RN to NP. It gives you the time to slowly progress to a normal patient load instead of feeling “thrown in” which really helps build confidence. The residency structure allows you the opportunity and time to actually learn how to manage ICU patients and ease decision making without being overwhelmed. The education team, preceptors, and doctors are all so patient and are willing to teach you the best ways to succeed and have shaped me into the provider I am now. The education you get during the residency is unparalleled!

Program
FAQs

We highly encourage applying in your last academic semester or post-graduation. Normally, with the interview process, boards, and obtaining the necessary components for the credentialing process plus credentialing, it takes approximately six (6) months post-graduation to complete everything. For those who have graduated and are already licensed when applying to the fellowship, anticipate the credentialing process to take up to four (4) months.

If selected for an interview, anticipate the interview  process to be approximately 1.5 hours. The interview process includes the traditional interview question-style format with a panel of three (3) to four (4) advanced practice providers and a clinical-based component.

Fellows will work no more than 160 hours a month, which equates to approximately 40 hours a week. However, given the role is shift work, there may be weeks where you spend slightly more or less than 40 hours. Fellows will also spend time engaging in their project and didactic content.

Yes, all fellows who successfully complete the fellowship are employed with the organization.

Fellows are provided clear expectations and guidelines for fellowship completion on Day One (1) of the fellowship. Each fellow is measured according to specific competency metrics at various intervals throughout the fellowship. Additionally, each fellow is required to complete additional examinations and/or simulation exercises to demonstrate learning.
